CHRISTOPHER S. LEONARD
I was raised in Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. I studied Political Science while attending the University of Georgia. At the time I believed that to make the change to society that I wanted to make that I had to be in Washington DC. After a brief stint in the political machine, I realized how wrong I was. And that real change happens on the local level and impacts people and not institutions. I decided to go to law school and got my degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Protecting people from abuse by government actors has always been a driving force for me. So criminal defense was an obvious choice after graduating. I had the great opportunity to work for and now with Josh Kendrick. While working at KENDRICK & LEONARD, I’ve had the honor of representing the citizens of South Carolina at every level of court. I have battled with police officers over DUIs in magistrate court; gone toe to toe with some of the best prosecutors in the State in general sessions court and argued my clients cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals. It has always been a tremendous privilege to represent real people and make a difference in their lives.
I also quickly saw that is wasn’t just the police abusing my clients. Corporations and insurance companies can hurt people just as bad if not worse. That is why it is a natural extension to protect my clients from these harms as well. I work hard to ensure the rights of people to be treated fairly is primary objective of this firm.
